What is it like living in modern-day society during a global pandemic? You probably have your own answer, but this series tells my story of transitioning from modern life to total isolation. As soon as the pandemic struck, I was sent home, which for me meant being confined to my studio apartment, 600 miles away from my family, alone with my two cats. Alone. Completely alone.
As a creative, the desire to create persisted, but without access to my campus studio and supplies, I had to adapt. I decided that to make and store art within my small living space, my work needed to be compact—specifically, digital. With my thesis semester on the horizon, I challenged myself to experiment with digital media, despite having no prior experience, teaching myself the intricacies from scratch.
As the pandemic swept over the nation like a dutiful maid, I began to experience cabin fever (not a real fever—I was COVID-free). I realized I could use digital media as a way to virtually escape my confinement. This series presents three distinct collections documenting my growth and sanity within my isolated home, offering a window into my journey through creativity during these unprecedented times.
